Cook Time 18–22 min

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 cup low-fat or nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 small jalapeños, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, whisked for brushing
  • optional extra cheddar for topping
  • optional everything bagel seasoning or garlic powder

Kev Tip

Use thick Greek yogurt. Thicker yogurt makes the dough easier to handle. If your dough feels too sticky, add a small sprinkle of flour at a time until it is workable.
Make It Fit Your Macros Lower calorie: use reduced-fat cheddar and go lighter on the topping cheese.
Higher protein: use a higher-protein Greek yogurt or serve with eggs, turkey sausage, or cottage cheese.
More filling: turn it into a breakfast sandwich with egg whites and lean protein.
Storage Notes Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Toast before serving for the best texture.

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. 3Add Greek yogurt and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. 4Fold in the diced jalapeños and shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. 5Lightly flour your hands and divide the dough into 4 pieces.
  6. 6Roll each piece into a log, then connect the ends to form a bagel shape.
  7. 7Place bagels on the baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and top with extra cheese if desired.
  8. 8Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. 9Let cool slightly before slicing or serving.

Breakfast / Weight Loss Notes

Build it into a balanced breakfast. One bagel on its own is a solid snack, but for a full breakfast, pair it with eggs, egg whites, chicken sausage, turkey bacon, or cottage cheese for more protein.
Best texture move. Let the bagels cool before slicing. If you cut them too early, the inside can feel gummy. Toasting brings them back to life.
