Ingredients

Salmon Bites

  • 1 lb salmon filet

  • 1–2 tbsp Cajun seasoning (e.g. Slap Ya Mama)

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 shallot, finely chopped (optional)

  • Juice of ½ lemon

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning

  • Pinch of salt & pepper

  • Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)

Directions

  1. Cube & season the salmon.

    • Remove skin and slice into 1″ strips, then cut into 1″ cubes.

    • In a bowl, toss salmon with Cajun seasoning until each piece is coated.

  2. Air-fry the salmon.

    • Preheat air fryer to 400 °F.

    • Arrange salmon in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).

    • Air-fry 5–6 minutes, until edges are lightly charred and centers are just opaque.

    • Toss asparagus with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.

    • Place in air fryer basket in a single layer.

    • Air-fry at 400 °F for 7–8 minutes, shaking halfway, until tender-crisp and lightly charred.

  4. Make the Cajun-butter sauce.

    • Warm a skillet over medium heat. Sauté shallot until translucent (1–2 min).

    • Add butter; once melted, stir in a pinch more Cajun seasoning, lemon juice, and black pepper.

    • Remove from heat.

  5. Combine & serve.

    • Gently toss salmon cubes in the skillet until well coated in the sauce.

    • Plate salmon bites alongside (or on top of) the Cajun asparagus.

    • Garnish with extra lemon wedges and a crack of black pepper.

Chef’s Tips & Variations

  • Batch prep: Cook salmon and asparagus in separate trays—reheat gently to prevent overcooking.

  • Dairy-free swap: Use coconut oil in place of butter; skip the shallot if preferred.

  • Extra kick: Sprinkle a bit of cayenne into the asparagus toss or finish the salmon with a few dashes of hot sauce.

  • Serving ideas:

    • Over cauliflower rice or quinoa for a grain-free bowl.

    • Toss both in a big green salad with avocado and cherry tomatoes.

    • Serve with a side of garlic mashed sweet potatoes.
